Biography
Chris Clark is a rural GP in Witheridge, Mid-Devon with longstanding clinical and research interests in blood pressure measurement, asthma, and quality in primary care. He has been a GP appraiser and RCGP assessor, and currently sits on the Steering Group of the Rural Forum of the Royal College of General Practitioners. In 1999 he joined the Institute of General Practice as a Postgraduate Tutor in Clinical Governance. He was appointed as a Clinical Academic Fellow in the Peninsula Medical School in 2004 and completed an MSc on 'The differential blood pressure sign: A study of its prevalence, validity and prognostic value as a predictor of cardiovascular disease in hypertensive patients in primary care' in 2006. He continues to work on projects in all of his fields of interest, but mainly in hypertension and diabetes. He is involved in a series of systematic reviews and is an active Cochrane Collaboration author. He is now undertaking a PhD looking further into the cardiovascular implications of an inter-arm blood pressure difference, funded initially by a grant from the Scientific Foundation Board of the Royal College of General Practitioners and currently by PenCLAHRC.
