Directions to Veysey Building, Exeter

The Veysey Building, which houses The Health Economics Group and several other research groups from the medical school's Institute for Health Services Research, is on its own site about a mile south of Exeter city centre, and close to the River Exe.

At the end of Salmon Pool Lane take a sharp left following sign to 'River and Playing Fields'. The gateway to the Veysey PCMD campus is then about 50 yards straight on. Once through the gate you need to follow the road round to the right of a single storey brick building.

By bus:

Most south and west bound bus routes from Exeter bus station go either down Barrack Road and south along Topsham Road (Most frequent services are: No. 2 – Dawlish & Newton Abbot; No. 57 to Exmouth/Brixington; No. X53 to Sidmouth and beyond) or go straight along Topsham Road from the city centre (Routes K and T to Countess Wear and Topsham respectively). Also nos 39, X38, X46 and X64.

With bus nos 2, 57, 39, X38, X46, X53, X64, get off at the army Barracks bus stop on Barrack Road.

With bus nos K or T, get off at Buckerell Lodge Hotel bus stop on Topsham Road.

Alternatively, H1 and H2 buses go fairly frequently to and from the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, which is then only about 10 minutes walk from Veysey Building (see map).

By rail:

Unfortunately there are no railway stations within less than a mile or so of the Veysey Building. We are about 2 miles from Exeter St David's station, and slightly less than this from Exeter Central. You will probably need to take a taxi from these stations to get to Veysey. Alternatively, from Exeter St Davids station, H1 and H2 buses go fairly frequently to and from the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, which is then only about 10 minutes walk from Veysey Building (see map above).

By car:

From A30 east, M5 North or A-roads from East:
Exit motorway at junction 30. Follow signs for City Centre; At first roundabout (called 'Countess Wear', Shell garage on right), take the third exit to the right (Topsham Road). After about a mile, the high wall of the Army barracks will be on the right side of the road. Go straight across next traffic light junction but take the next left, about 30m after the junction. This is Salmon Pool Lane; follow further directions as above.

From North and Exeter city centre:
Take inner ring road to top of Topsham Road. Follow Topsham Road southwards, past Devon County Hall. After County Hall road will rise to a traffic-light junction with a small parade of shops. Before reaching this junction, turn right into Salmon Pool Lane (opposite the entrance to Buckerell Lodge Hotel). Follow further directions as above.

By bike:

Exeter has a good network of on- and off-road cycle routes, some of which go right along Topsham Road, or along the river Exe which is very close to the PCMD Veysey Building. We have a covered bike rack.

The Exeter cycle map is at: www.devon.gov.uk/excguide.pdf

Following the river Exe, the Veysey campus is the brown buildings marked to the right of St James Weir.
